Prof. Peiris official visit to Russia, Kazakhstan

External Affairs Minister Prof. GL Peiris pay an official visit to Russia at the invitation of Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federation Sergey Lavrov tomorrow, the ministry said in a statement yesterday.

During the visit Prof. Peiris will hold official talks with his Russian counterpart on a wide range of issues of importance to both countries. The Minister will also pay an official visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan at the invitation of Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Yerzhan Kazykhanov May 24 and 25.

This is the first official visit to Kazakhstan by a Sri Lankan Minister of Foreign Affairs.

During the visit, Prof. Peiris will hold official talks with his counterpart from Kazakhstan and signed a memorandum of understanding on the annual bilateral consultations between the Foreign Ministries of Sri Lanka and Kazakhstan.
