Sarah Jessica Parker to hold fundraiser for President Barack Obama at his home in Manhattan
This is not Sex and the City - it's Barack in the city, can
be done for as little as $ 3.
Obama's campaign announced Friday that "Sex and the
City" star Sarah Jessica Parker will hold a fundraiser for reelection to
his home in Manhattan next month.
Parker promised that the evening "A Night in New
York," would be "fabulous."
"I hope you will help me to welcome President Obama and
First Lady in New York," Parker wrote in an email to supporters of the
incumbent. "It should be fabulous."
Supporters who donate even $ 3 will be entered into a draw
to attend the glitzy event on June 14.
The Obama campaign has used a similar tactic earlier this
month by raffling off chances to attend a fundraiser at home of stars George
Clooney Hollywood.
The dinner raised $ 15 million - the highest ever in a
single event.
Parker, a longtime supporter of Obama, volunteered at a
get-out-the-vote phone bank for the campaign in 2008.
"I believed then, as I do now, if we all chipped in and
did our part, we would not only make history," writes Parker, "but to
create meaningful change that Americans so desperately need. "
"For me, this election is more important than in
2008," she writes.
Details of the fundraiser, to be held at Parker actions West
Village home with husband Matthew Broderick, are still being resolved.
The raffle winners will be made in New York and receive
tickets to a performance of Mariah Carey - if it is not clear whether the star
will sing at home Parker.
This is hardly the first time Obama raises money in
Manhattan, the world's favorite ATM policy.
He held a pair of cash bashes last week in the wake of his
landmark ruling on gay marriage.
Earlier this year, he also attended a series of dinners $
35,000 in chic apartments, including Spike Lee's Upper East Side home -.
"Let's Stay Together" and a fundraiser at the Apollo Theater which
included his interpretation of the famous Al Green
His Republican rival has also frequently visited the city
with his hand, but it will likely receive fewer votes from the five boroughs.
Mitt Romney has swept the city on several occasions to raise
funds, including a three-stop lightning one day in December that brought him
millions of dollars
