Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa returns from Qatar
President Mahinda Rajapaksa, who has made an official
visit to Qatar to attend the Doha Forum Economic Summit as a special guest on
the invitation of the Qatar Emir Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani returned
home yesterday morning.
While in Qatar, President Rajapaksa met with Qatar Emir
Hamad bin Khalifa al-Thani and Prime Minister Hamad bin
Jassim bin Jabar and held bilateral discussions with them.
The emir of Qatar and Prime Minister during the discussions
said Qatar was keen to see Srilani Lanka to proceed with an accelerated growth and
Qatar was ready to assist Sri Lanka in this endeavor unconditionally.
The emir said he even canceled a planned visit foreign to
stay behind and meet President Rajapaksa as a mark of honor to him. The emir
said Sri Lanka, which suffered a setback because of terrorism had been able to
achieve rapid growth and development because of effective leadership.

Peiris, AHM Fowzie, Rauf Hakeem and Rishath Bathiutheen, Deputy Minister Faizer
Musthapha, Parliamentarian AHM Azwer Sajin Vaas Gunawardena and the President
and Secretary Lalith Weeratunga.
