Two Israeli policemen sentenced to death Palestinian
A Jerusalem court convicted two Israeli policemen of
negligent homicide for leaving a wounded Palestinian on a road, where he was
found dead two days later.
The case has raised questions about the failures in the
justice system that led to his death. The man was passed among the medical
staff, prison and police before dying.
According to court documents, Abu Omar Jarban, a car thief
who illegally resided in Israel, was injured while driving a car he stole in
2008.
A hospital gave him to the police, and after the prison
clinic refused to treat him, the police abandoned on a road near the West Bank.
Abu Jarban body dehydrated, hospital still wearing pants, was found two days
later.
A sentencing date has not been resolved.
