Sri Lanka, Tamil party meet today to discuss the situation in the sessions of the HRC
March 02, Colombo: Tamil political party of Sri Lanka, the Tamil National Alliance (TNA) parliamentarians will meet today to discuss the situation in the Human Rights Council (HRC) in Geneva session.
TNA leader R. Sampanthan said that the meeting was a routine that takes place before the parliamentary sessions.
The TNA was due to participate in sessions of the UNHRC in Geneva, but overturned the decision at the last minute without giving any reason for cancellation.
Several members of the TNA have opposed the decision to cancel the visit to Geneva and requested an urgent meeting to discuss the issue.
Jaffna district parliamentarian Suresh Premachandran has said the decision to cancel the visit was not unanimous.
TNA parliamentarian P. Ariyanenthiran said the issue should be discussed.
It should therefore be one of the key issues discussed at the meeting today.
