Eleven Famous People who survived being shot- Pope John Paul II
Pope John Paul II was beloved by millions – hell, billions –
around the world. But that didn’t stop a Turkish gunman from trying to assassinate
the holy man during a speech in St. Peter’s Square in 1981. Shot in the
stomach, the Pope lost ¾ of his blood and underwent five hours of emergency
surgery. He miraculously survived and went on to become a much beloved figure
throughout the world. His would-be assassin, however, was whipped up on by a
nun (!) and restrained by various bystanders until the cops hauled him off to
prison, where he was visited by the Pope in 1983, who met privately with the
man, claimed that he forgave him and told people that he had his complete
trust, which honestly is some of the most gangster shit I’ve ever heard. The
nun would go on to win the WWE Women’s title a record 17 times.
